Let’s turn our time in covid-19 quarantine into a reason to practice more self-care. I have 5 self-care ideas for quarantine. Whether you are are social distancing or you are in lockdown, you will find yourself with a lot of time on your hands.  However this much free time with little freedom can be super draining on your mental state. So let’s look at this as more of a staycation where you can recharge and focus on selfcare.

1. Start a bullet journal – it’s a great way to be creative and make your own calendar to fit your lifestyle. One of my favorite things to do is add reflection pages at the end of each month. You can fill it with memories and things you are grateful for. It’s so easy to forget or bypass all the good times you had in the past month. Unfortunately are wired to remember the bad. I know that some of us need to make the conscious effort to celebrate the small things and this is a way to do that. Bullet journaling can help put in perspective the things you have accomplished and enjoyed the last month. It’s a great way to keep you grounded especially during times like this while we can get overwlemed with this quarantine. I have linked below 2 different brands of notebooks. I choose to use the binder type so all I have to do is buy a refill pack and not an entire new notebook. I have also linked my favorite multicolor pens. These pens got me through all of school they write beautifully and last for awhile.

2. Get on a new routine. Remember that new year’s resolution you probably stopped doing? You can pick it back up! Currently, many of us have a lot of time on our hands. SOO the best thing to fill your time is start on a schedule and routine. You can plan out your meals, set a workout routine and even a skin care routine where you make time to mask, take a bath or do an at home facial with your family. The best part is your bullet journal can help you stay organized and really be accountable to your new routine. They say it takes 12 days to turn something into a habit, but that is only if you take the steps to develop it.

3. Pick up a book or start a new podcast like the true crime podcasts for example. Right now, having an escape from reality by getting into a really good book or a new podcast could be refreshing. It gives you time away to reset, which is a type of self-care. There are many different options, the libraries are endless. If your more into comics than reading books there are many different indie writers who publish their comics on apps such as webtoon and webcomics for free. I recommend giving them a shot. A personal favorite mine is Lore Olympus. It’s beautiful art mixed with Greek mythology.

4. Play games!! I know most of you people live in some sort of family unit or with your spouse. Make sure you are doing more than just watching movies or fighting over the tv. You can set time aside time for board games or play multiple player games on the Nintendo switch. My husband and I personally love to play Just Dance. It keeps you active and we are extremely competitive with each other, so it makes it fun. When we have more people with us, we love to play Mario party or Mario Kart.

5. Learn a new craft or hobby. There are endless crafting blogs and how-to YouTube tutorial videos out there. You can pick up anything from how to crochet, to learning how to build things out of wood. Even cooking from scratch can be something you pick up. You can also focus on finding healthy alternatives to your favorite foods and focus on trying to make them taste better while still being healthy! That’s a personal favorite of mine, I love looking up recipes on Pinterest and trying them out. Sometimes they are awful but there are some hidden gems. You can check out my selfcare board on pinterest where I have linked some things I have liked personally.

I hope you like some of these 5 selfcare ideas for quarantine . These are all things I currently do to try to keep myself grounded during this lockdown. Especially now that my spa is closed, I’m currently laid off and it’s easy to get caught up in my own misery. However, the cycle ends with a conscious choice to be better and do better. You can’t control what happens in the outside world but you can control how you respond to it. We aren’t perfect so there are little things we can do to cope with the tough times. Just remember to take it day by day and we will all get through this together.

Are you doing something I didn’t mention? I want to hear from you if there is anything you do to cope with stress during this time of social isolation and quarantine! Leave a comment below and we can chat.

Take care and celebrate your small victories.

You deserve self-love.
